illkya is a (creative)(ambitious)

latina multi-disciplinary graphic designer working in philadelphia hailing from the jersey shore. 🐚
she is available for freelance projects.
she is currently creating at mighty engine.

her focus includes editorial design, typography, and photography. she would like to work more with art direction, book cover design, design for music, and branding & identity. she uses her intrinsic sensibility to create evocative work. she channels her love for art, music, and culture to inform her process.

illkya also believes in beauty as a driving force for transformation— beauty of all kinds— the overlooked, unconventional, traditional, rough-around-the-edges— the beauty that is taking refuge within the shadows— and beyond.

illkya holds a bfa in graphic design from the university of the arts in philadelphia.

during her down time, illkya enjoys going to concerts, surveying the culinary scene, staying attuned to the local community via art & design events, photographing the world around her and taking self-portraits.

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to." —Jim Jarmusch
