This painting was created after a self-realization of becoming free. It happened as a result of a toxic relationship I had to end. There was a lot I compromised— when I realized that change from the other person was never going to happen, it was time to step away gracefully, even if painful.

It hurt deep. Shortly after I made the decision to break it off, I had a dream that I was a swan— or I saw a swan in my dream.

A swan represents elegance, poise, beauty. All the things that I did not feel in the relationship I was in. This was a reclamation of the self.
